Brugmansia are closely related to the Daturas, but grows much larger--up to 25 feet. Hence the common name - Tree Datura.
Covered with huge, hanging, trumpet-like flowers.
Brugmansia saveolens is a vigorous shrub (smaller that the picture shown) with narrow eliptic leaves. Tubular bell-shaped flowers grow to 9 ½ -13 inches. Fragrant at night, the flowers are produced in 2-4 week phases followed by new growth of flower buds. Brugmansia saveolens is a perfect variety for greenhouse growing. Colors range from white, pink or yellow. Sow seed at 61° F in standard potting mix, water freely during growing season and moderately during winter months, but don’t let dry out. Feed every 3 to 4 weeks.
Brugmansia saveolens is toxic if ingested.
